You won't ever find us shaving the coat of your golden retriever . 

God didn't intend it that way. 

Their double coat system protects them. 

In the summer, the undercoat gets raked out, and the protective top coat shields their skin from the cancerous UV rays.

In the winter, the undercoat grows back, and insulates them against the cold weather.

It is HUMAN EMOTION, that risks dogs to skin cancer, in thinking that they "feel better" are "happier". 
Regular grooming for a golden retriever is a GIVEN, in choosing this breed. 

"Why" don't other groomers warn me of the risks?
Human emotion.  They are designed to do what YOU WANT, make you happy and keep you as a customer, however uneducated that may be.

Its easier to just say "yes", shave away(much easier task) and charge whatever they charge.
